Rotoinfo.com provides excellent updates as lineups roll in. I’ve got some fun choices below – read along and enjoy.

DraftKings.com Team of the Day:

We are going with a semi-stacking approach today as we look to take advantage of the Tampa Bay Rays’ solid career numbers against Boston Red Sox starter John Lackey.

Julio Teheran | P | Braves | $7,100 –Teheran has 25 strikeouts over his last 21 innings and gets to travel to the cavernous Petco Park against the San Diego Padres. Teheran has been hot as of late as he’s been able to get his offspeed pitches working

Hisashi Iwakuma | P | Mariners | $12,200 – Iwakuma is expensive, but he’s worth it. He faces the Houston Astros who really like to strike out. Iwakuma has 18 strikeouts over his last three appearances, but he that number will be looking up on Monday as the Astros average 9.5 strikeouts per game.

If you want to look elsewhere for pitching, I’d look at Alex Cobb at $9,500 (if you want to go for the complete “stack.”) He’s been solid over his last three starts (1.21 ERA, 17 strikeouts in 22 1/3 IP) or you can’t go wrong picking Clayton Kershaw ($12,300) though he’s struggled (for him) a bit in his last couple of outings. For those looking to go extremely cheap, Freddy Garcia ($5,000) has a ridiculous career record against the Angels – 16 wins, 3 losses, 2.66 ERA and 142 strikeouts over 202 innings.

Victor Martinez | C | Tigers | $3,400 – Martinez is finally offering the pop we’d hoped to see from him at the beginning of the year. He’s 9 for 27 over his last seven games with three HRs and 5 for 14 against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie with a .938 OPS.

Luke Scott | 1B | Rays | $3,200– Scott has a career OPS 100 points higher when facing right handed pitchers (like Red Sox starter John Lackey). He’s also 7 for 18 with two HRs and four doubles in 18 career ABs against John Lackey.

Ben Zobrist | 2B | Rays | $3,700 – Zobrist is another Ray with a solid track record against Lackey. He’s 8 for 23 and a .918 OPS against Lackey. There isn’t much else to recommend Zobrist beyond his history against Lackey. Oh, he does hit leadoff usually which is a nice bonus in daily leagues.

Evan Longoria | 3B | Rays | $4,200 – More Rays! Longo is 8 for 28 against Lackey with a HR and an .855 OPS. And that’s where it ends. Longo has struggled a bit in June and in his career he’s a little bit worse of a hitter against righties. But, we’re sticking with the Rays.

Yunel Escobar | SS | Rays | $3,200 – And even more Rays! Escobar sports a 7 for 13 record against Lackey with a 1.255 OPS. He possesses a .962 OPS in June.

Matt Joyce | OF | Rays | $3,400 – Joyce has found himself in the lead off spot for the last few games so he’s in line to get that extra at bat. Moreover, Joyce is 5 for 15 against Lackey with a home run.

Josh Hamilton | OF | Angels | $4,800 – Hamilton has been less than stellar this season. He has a .415! OPS against lefties. Luckily, he’s facing right hander Freddy Garcia. He has only four hits off of Garcia in 12 ABs. Three of those four hits? Home runs.

Yasiel Puig | OF | Dodgers | $4,000 – I don’t care if Puig is facing Christy Mathewson or Walter Johnson or Walter Matthau. I’m starting him until he turns back into a human.

In other notes, avoid Rickie Weeks. He’s got solid career numbers against Ricky Nolasco (the Marlins starter on Monday), but Weeks has been platooning with Scooter Gennett and likely won’t be in the lineup.

The First Pitch:

A few injury updates to start your week off right:

Austin Jackson is expected to start his rehab on Monday with a target date of Friday for his return.

Matt Kemp had a setback in his work to return from his hamstring injury and won’t be ready to return on Friday.

Michael Pineda had a relatively successful rehab start and he could be back with the Yankees by the end of June.

Pablo Sandoval might be headed to the DL after all with his strained foot.

Ike Davis was mercifully demoted to AAA on Sunday after the Mets game.

And now, some notes from Sunday’s action:

Bobby Parnell gave up three runs in the tenth inning of a tie game with the Marlins and suffered the loss. Parnell is safe in his role as the Mets don’t have anyone pushing him. Perhaps more interesting is that Daniel Murphy was in the cleanup spot. He’s not a prototypical cleanup hitter by any stretch of the imagination, but his value increases if he stays there. In the same game, Logan Morrison returned from the DL with two hits while occupying the fifth spot in the batting order. Giancarlo Stanton is due back Monday and the Marlins have said that youngster Marcell Ozuna will stay around and play center field meaning that Justin Ruggiano will head to the bench.

In the first game of a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins, the Nationals’ Jordan Zimmermann continued to reveal himself as the best pitcher on that staff. He threw seven shutout innings and struck out eight while giving up only two hits. In perhaps a more striking development, the Nationals somehow scored seven runs in a game that only lasted nine innings and someone named Jeff Kobernus hit lead off for the Nats. Anthony Rendon picked up three RBIs and Ian Desmond went three for four and knocked in two runs and scored two.

Edwin Jackson is an enigma wrapped inside a mystery inside a Twinkie. However, on Sunday he threw seven innings and struck out eight Pittsburgh Pirates en route to a win. Jackson makes a solid buy low target as he has an awful 5.76 ERA, but his FIP sits at 3.39 and xFIP at 3.58. He’s got some ERA upside going forward. Just know the ride will be more roller coaster.
