2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: July 29th 2013

Today, I’m going to give the MLB Daily Dollar [$150 Guaranteed, Single Entry]  contest a go. It’s just a $1 entry and the top 40 score some dough. It’s a good entry level game for taking a first dip into the daily fantasy pool. Don’t forget to claim your deposit bonus!

Rotoinfo.com provides excellent updates as lineups roll in.

DraftKings.com Team of the Day:

Jacob Turner | RHP | Marlins | $9,200 – Turner faces the Mets. The Mets have a 22.5% K rate against right handed pitching (third worst in the majors) and a .682 OPS against those same pitchers (good for 27th in the majors). Turner’s pitched well lately and should have some success against a faltering Mets’ lineup.

Brandon Beachy | RHP | Braves | $6,300 – There’s not a lot to analyze here. Beachy is just off the DL. It’s his first start back, but he does get the Rockies on the road which is where you want to see them. He’s cheap and not a high risk.

Evan Gattis | C | Braves | $4,100 – Gattis gets a left hander in Jorge de la Rosa and he holds a .969 OPS against lefties this season.

Edwin Encarnacion | 1B/3B | Blue Jays | $4,600– Encarnacion is hot. En fuego. Caliente? Seven of his last ten games have been double digit outputs on DraftKings. Let’s ride the hot hand.

Matt Carpenter | 2B/3B | Cardinals | $4,200 – Carpenter hits leadoff which is important in these daily leagues. And with an .874 OPS versus lefties this season, he’s a good bet for double digit output.

Pedro Alvarez | 3B | A’s | $4,200 – Batter versus pitcher numbers usually don’t mean much. But, I can’t pass up Alvarez against Cards’ starter Jake Westbrook. Alvarez is12 for 21 with two HRs against Westbrook all time.

Jose Reyes | SS | Blue Jays | $4,800 – Reyes is here for the same reason his teammate E5 is here. He’s hot – 11 for 27 for his last six games and he’s been a big boom or bust guy on DraftKings with three games over 20 points in the last 10 games.

Shin-Soo Choo | OF | Reds | $4,400 – Choo had Sunday off so he should be nice and rested to face whomever Sean O’Sullivan is. He’s actually faced him 10 times in his career with two hits, but that’s not what matters. What matters is that Choo is facing a right handed starter. He’s also quite cool lately – just 3 for his last 22, but I like him against the inexperienced O’Sullivan.

Allen Craig | 1B/OF | Cardinals | $4,000 – Craig gets a lefty and he’s got an .886 OPS against them this season. He’s a great value at $4,000.

Christian Yelich | OF | Marlins | $3,300 – Yelich’s recall by the Marlins was a surprise. However, his performance so far is less so. At this price, he’s such a great bargain – it’s always important to find those recent recalls who can fill in for you and provide performance far above their cost.

Good luck today!
