DraftKings.com Team of the Day:

It’s a full slate today so I’m going to focus on batter versus pitcher match ups a bit more today. I’ve also gone a bit starts and scrubs though I don’t go all the way down the scrub ladder.

Tim Lincecum | RHP | Giants | $8,400 – Hear me out. He has 20 strikeouts in his last three starts over 17 2/3 IP. He’s a career five and one with a 2.59 ERA lifetime against the Mets. The Mets are 25th overall in OPS against right handed pitching this season. Convinced?

Hector Santiago | LHP | White Sox | $6,300 – Needed to go cheap on my second starter and I like what Santiago brings to the table. The Cubs are middle of the road versus lefties. Santiago has struck out more than a batter per inning his his last three starts and the Cubs strikeout percentage is fifth worst in the majors versus lefties.

If you wanted to go extremely risky try John Lannan against his former team the Nationals. The Nationals are terrible against left handed pitching (.612 OPS on the season, last in the major leagues). Edinson Volquez also looks attractive at home against a Colordo Rockies team missing a lot of firepower (and who may be without Carlos Gonzalez as well).

Victor Martinez | C | Tigers | $3,100 – Martinez has been terrible against left handed pitching this year with a lousy .501 OPS in 108 plate appearances. However, he does have some success against Scott Kazmir with a 1.342 OPS in 16 at bats including a home run. His bat has also showed some signs of waking up lately, so I’ll take the cheap catcher route today.

Nick Swisher | 1B | Indians | $3,700– Swisher is also eligible at OF if you’d rather use him there. Swish has a 1.415 OPS in 10 at a bats against Mighty Max Scherzer. He’s been solid over the last couple of weeks after struggling for nearly a month. He’s got five double digit days in his last 10 games at DraftKings.

Robinson Cano | 2B | Yankees | $5,700 – Cano leads all second baseman with a .985 OPS against right handed pitching. Jeremy Guthrie has struggled mightily lately (7.80 ERA over his last three starts) and Cano owns a solid track record (.811 OPS, three home runs) against Guthrie.

Miguel Cabrera | 3B | Tigers | $6,900 – Best player in baseball. Cabrera crushes lefties to the tune of a 1.353 OPS this season. Sure, I’ll pay for that.

Jhonny Peralta | SS | Tigers | $3,200 – A lefty is on the hill so Peralta is in my lineup. A .958 OPS on the season against lefties (third among all SS in the majors) does it for me. Oh, he’s also got seven hits in 16 at bats against Kazmir with two home runs.

Jayson Werth | OF | Nationals | $4,400 – Werth will never live up to the big contract he signed, but he only has to perform for today. He’s got four home runs in 27 at bats against his former teammate John Lannan and a career .912 OPS.

Jay Bruce | OF | Reds | $4,000 – Bruce has a .973 OPS against the Brewers’ Kyle Lohse. He’s not been particularly hot, but he’s a player who has a chance for multiple hits in this match up.

Jason Kubel | OF | Diamondbacks | $3,800 – Kubel’s 1.045 OPS in his career against Zack Greinke is what drew me to him initially.  He’s got an .835 career number against righties and an .881 OPS at home over 385 plate appearances. He can check a lot of boxes for me today.

If you are looking to stack today I like the Tigers against Scott Kazmir and the Indians or if you want to go very deep take the Twins against Roberto Hernandez. They both have some cheap bats that should make it easy to fill out a lineup.

Good luck today!
