2013 Fantasy Football, Eliminator Pools: Week 5

The whole point of Eliminator pools is once you pick a loser, you’re a loser. Joe Flacco and his 5 INTs surely ended many Eliminator seasons (including mine) but for those of you still alive congrats.

Some advice for those of you still playing:  the bad teams have started to show themselves and picking against those teams is a great strategy to implement. Obviously, the 0-4 Jaguars jump off the page. There is also the 0-4 Bucs who could be on the verge of a possible coaching change if new quarterback Mike Glennon doesn’t pan out. As far as the 0-4 Giants and Steelers are concerned, it would be nerve racking any week to go against teams of their pedigree.

Here are some notes for Week 5:

SAFE PLAY: Broncos- Denver could probably fit into this category until Week 16 or 17 when they will probably have the chance to rest their starters in preparation of a championship run. The Broncos are scoring an outstanding 44.8 points per game while their D is giving up 22.8 without Champ Bailey and Von Miller. For the Cowboys to stand a chance, Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray, and Dez Bryant are going to have to bring their ‘’A’’ games. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, they haven’t had a game this season where all three have done that.

GET THEM OUT OF THE WAY PLAY: Rams- Just as the Broncos could be a weekly ‘’safe play,’’ anyone playing the Jaguars are going to fall into this category on a weekly basis. On that note, this truly is the time to get the Rams out of the way though. After this week the only time to possibly use them would be Week 16 vs Tampa Bay. The poor Jags give up 32.3 points per game this season while only putting up 7.8 points per game. However, the Jags to get Justin Blackmon back on offense.

MY PLAY: Chargers- Philip Rivers is 11-3 in his career against the Raiders and is off to a good of start has he has had in years (11 TDs, only 2 INTs). On the Raiders side of the ball they have a quarterback recovering from a concussion in Terrelle Pryor, two iffy running backs in Darren McFadden and Marcel Reece, and a replacement running back in Rashad Jennings who averaged 2.8 yards per carry during the 2012 season.

Other Notes: Hard to see the Falcons losing at home to the Jets. Geno Smith has only 1 TD on the road with 5 INTs while Matt Ryan has 4 TDs to just 1 INT in the Georgia Dome… The Packers are 9-1 vs the Lions the last 5 seasons with their only loss in a game in which Aaron Rodgers was lost to a concussion…

Safe Play: 2-2

Out of the way: 2-2

My Play: 3-1
