Welcome to the eleventh entry of The Fix’s Fantasy Football Injury Report.  Each week I (@Rich_Migs) will cover several key fantasy football related injuries.  The idea is not to cover every football injury, but instead cover the notable ones that have direct fantasy implications.  As the season continues, the report will address the most recent injuries and their fantasy football related consequences.

I will try to avoid repeating names too often from week to week unless there is news to report.  We are entering Week 11 and if you would like to see the injury list for Week 10, please click here.   You can see all my injury reports (and my other work) by following my archive here

Every week it seems like we lose another quarterback to injury.  Let’s take a look at all the significant fantasy injuries that will effect this coming week.

Week Eleven:

Player

Injury

Status/Update

Stock Risers/Fallers

Jay Cutler (QB)

Ankle

Out for Week 11:

Cutler is pretty banged up, so there is a chance he could be out multiple weeks.

Josh McCown (QB).  McCown will start once again for the Bears.  He did a nice job the last two games he started in replace of Cutler.  McCown managed to keep most of the fantasy weapons of the Bears hold their value.

Jake Locker (QB)

Lisfranc Injury

Out for the Season:

Locker is done for the season and may need surgery on his foot.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB).  It’s likely the entire offense for the Titans can be downgraded, but Fitzpatrick should be decent enough not to harm Kendall Wright’s value too much.  Chris Johnson and Shonn Greene may receive more carries, but the downgrade with the quarterback situation won’t open up more running lanes.

Mike James (RB)

Fractured ankle

Out for Week 11:

Mike James may be out for the rest of the season after initial tests showed a fractured left ankle.

Bobby Rainey (RB).  Brian Leonard (RB).  Leonard and Rainey handled the load after James went out with his injury.  Leonard got more work in this game, but that may change in the coming weeks.  There was some sleeper appeal with Rainey when Trent Richardson was traded (he was then cut), so consider him an option moving forward.  Out of the two, Rainey is my add.

Michael Floyd (WR)

Sprained Shoulder

Questionable for Week 11:

Floyd may have a chance to start this week, but look for updates from practice in the upcoming days.

Andre Roberts (WR).  Roberts would likely see more targets if Floyd were to miss time.  The Cardinals face the Jaguars in Week 11, so he could be a sneaky plug ‘n’ play.

Terrelle Pryor (QB)

Sprained MCL

Questionable for Week 11:

Pryor is in apparently a lot of pain, and although there seems to be a belief that he is going to play this week, why would the Raiders risk further injuring their young QB?  Owners relying on Pryor should be wary.

Denarius Moore (WR).  We could put the whole Raiders offense in red, but this is a bit easier.  Pryor, despite his inconsistencies, is capable of making plays and giving the others around him more fantasy value.  If he is out, Moore, who has worked his way onto the WR3 radar, will be downgraded.

Vernon Davis (TE)

Concussion

Questionable for Week 11:

Concussions are always tricky and owners will likely know by Friday how it is looking for Davis.

Vance McDonald (TE).  Colin Kaepernick (QB).  It is unfortunate that Kaepernick has so few weapons.  Davis has been his best weapon this season. Things could get difficult for Kaep at New Orleans this week if Davis is out.  Vance McDonald should get most of the snaps at tight end, so owners in need of same help from bye weeks, should give him a look.

Other Injury Related News:

  • Santonio Holmes (WR) is expected back this week
  • Percy Harvin (WR) was activated this week and is expected to see a limited number of snaps in Week 11.  If he stays healthy, there is a chance he can be a real help for owners during fantasy playoffs.
  • Peyton Manning (QB) hurt his ankle this Sunday, but is expected to be fine and will start in Week 11.
  • Stevie Johnson (WR) and Robert Woods (WR) both have a very realistic chance of missing Week 11.  E.J. Manuel (QB) goes up against a pretty tough Jets defense, and with even less weapons, and with even less weapons, is no more than a low-end QB2.
  • Seneca Wallace (QB) hurt his groin Sunday, and even if he is healthy enough to go, will now likely back up Scott Tolzien (QB).
  • Tony Gonzalez (TE) has a toe injury is questionable for Week 11.
  • Shane Vereen (RB) could make his return this week.  It will be interesting to see how the Patriots use him.
