2013 Fantasy Football December 26 Daily Fix: Week 17 D/ST Recommendations

Daily Fantasy Baseball Fix

Today’s fantasy football daily fix delivers news and notes about Tony Romo and Randall Cobb, along with DraftKings Week 17 daily fantasy football D/ST recommendations for the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants.

News & Notes

Romo Injected, Status Still Uncertain

If SportsCenter hasn’t already reminded you enough, there’s really only one big news story that matters this week, for fantasy or otherwise. Tony Romo received an epidural injection in his back and continues to receive treatment from a “army of guys.” It’s a huge story, but unfortunately, it’s not one that’ll be resolved until Sunday morning, at the earliest.

Randall Cobb Might Play

This one’s probably a longshot, but NFL.com is reporting that Randall Cobb was nearly ready to play for the Green Bay Packers last week. Typically, the team wouldn’t rush a key player back so quickly from a broken leg, but with the playoffs on the line, the Pack will employ every resource they’ve got. If you’ve still got him on your bench, keep an eye on the inactives report on Sunday morning.

DraftKings Defense/Special Teams Recommendations

If you’ve never played DraftKings before, it’s time to start. Once you’re registered, check out the multitude of options DraftKings has to offer; the Double Up and Triple Up contests are my personal favorites.

CADILLAC

Despite early injuries to its two best players, the New England Patriots ($3,900) have quietly remained among the best fantasy defenses in the league. They were a hair away from shutting out the Ravens on the road last week, and this week, the Pats get to face a relatively punchless Buffalo Bills offense in a chilly home environment.

BUICK

No offense has been friendlier to opposing defenses in the last month than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have a bad offensive line in pass protection; the New Orleans Saints ($3,500) have a great pass rush. Even on the road, this is a fantastic matchup for the Saints.

CHEVROLET

We’re a bit light on useable, cheap defenses this week; the Tennessee Titans ($2,700) are the best of the lot, matching up against the Houston Texans.

PILLOW FIGHT OF THE WEEK

Eli Manning has unquestionably been among the worst quarterbacks in football, and it’s only taken Kirk Cousins a couple of outings to establish himself as the fourth-worst passer in the league by DVOA. Neither defense is great, but that matchup alone makes Washington ($2,400) at the New York Giants ($2,800) a worthy candidate for the last PFOTW of the year.
