2013 Fantasy Football: IDP Dynasty Stashes with @IDPwithBEE_DSE

So you’re out of your fantasy league playoffs and already starting to plan your rebuild and trying to get an edge over your opponents entering 2014.  That’s where I come in to help you and let you know which IDP’s are flying under the radar and are great stashes for you entering next season and their impact will be felt.  Now, this is assuming things go well in OTA’s and mini-camps to training camps as there is no denying these talents, it’s the situation that matters and opportunity & I have no doubt these guys will relish the opportunity when their number is called.  I will give you 10 per IDP position (DL, LB and DB) to keep an eye on this off-season as you plan your retool on your roster.

As always, my weekly IDP rankings can be found here www.idpwithbee.wordpress.com and you can find me on twitter @IDPwithBEE_DSE as I’ll gladly assist you as best I can.

Keep in mind, these IDP’s aren’t ranked but rather numbered 1-10.

10 Defensive Linemen

  1. DEVIN TAYLOR (LIONS):  has come on late for the Lions and is a solid compliment opposite Ziggy and the bruisers in the middle (Suh & Fairley).  He’s quick off the edge and will wreck havoc next season, definitely worth the stash now & has DL2 potential.
  2. QUANTERUS SMITH (BRONCOS):  barely played in 2013 as he is recovering from his knee injury he suffered late in ’12.  He can quickly become the best pass rusher in Denver and if he has no setbacks he’ll flirt with 10+ sacks.
  3. ANDRE BRANCH (JAGUARS):  he’s one of those you pick up now as he’s heating up, has been solid the last 5 weeks and looks like he’s overcome whatever doubt the coaching staff about him, Jaguars are in need of pass rushers and long as Branch continues in the right direction he’s an up and coming DL2.
  4. JONATHAN MASSAQUOI (FALCONS):  with ATL out of the playoffs, they’ve been giving the younger guys snaps and Massaquoi is one of those recipients to see what they have and with Osi probably out next season, Massaquoi should get his chance.
  5. EVERSON GRIFFEN (VIKINGS):  such a talented DL for Minnesota but he plays behind Allen and Robison, with Allen surely on his way out soon Griffen can step in immediately and provide a solid pass rush.
  6. COREY LEMONIER (49ers):  in some leagues he’s listed as a LB but I got him as a DE for now as long as he can be eligible on our fantasy sites.  He shown flashes in ’13 on what he’s capable of and 49ers will have one of the best pass rushing defenses in ’14.
  7. TANK CARRADINE (49ers):  another goldmine that the Niners got in the draft, he’s been recovering from his injury but in ’14 he’ll be good to go and that 49ers pass rush is going to be nasty.  Has the upside of a DL1
  8. WILLIAM GHOLSTON (BUCS):  with McCoy on the rise and Clayborn looking like he’s declining as the season went on, Gholston has done well.  He’s definitely already showing he’s better than that other Gholston (Vernon) but I won’t go there.  With the inconsistency at DL, Gholston is definitely worth a stash as he could be gold in the DL2/3 tier.
  9. MAGNUS HUNT (BENGALS):  a freak of an athlete that sits behind Dunlap and Johnson he’ll need an injury or one of them to leave to get his shot, talent alone says he’s worth a stash as he’ll erupt once given opportunity.
  10. AKIEM HICKS (SAINTS):  Hicks stands out alongside Cameron Jordan on that Saints front line.  Has improved and can only get better, definitely being slept on now but could be a very impactful DL3 next season.

10 Linebackers

  1. ARTHUR BROWN (RAVENS):  sounds cliché but Brown is legit, just behind veterans in Baltimore and as his fellow draftmates got their shine in ’13, it’ll be Brown in ’14 (Lock it up).  He can do it all and prior to me knowing he won’t get much snaps I had him as a LB1 ceiling LB and I still belive in that, solid fit for that BAL defense.
  2. JARVIS JONES (STEELERS):  is finally coming along late in ’13 in learning the aggressive PIT defensive scheme.  He could start in ’14 because Worilds could be the odd man out (Free Agent) unless they resign him and drop Woodley.  He’s in the Aldon/Von/Clay tiers as you’ll count on them for big play ability, Jarvis can do that in LeBeau’s system.
  3. JAMIE COLLINS (PATRIOTS):  we saw glimpse of Collins potential, he plays all over the field and with question marks at LB entering ’14 I don’t see why Collins can’t snag the SLB position with Mayo and Hightower.  Soon as he gets the snaps he’ll have LB2 potential but currently sits at LB4 (value).
  4. AUDIE COLE (VIKINGS):  the experiment of Erin manning the middle has gone downhill and I said it pre-season in ’13 that Cole should be the man in the middle, he’s done a solid job and MIN will need him in ’14.  Has the potential to be a top 30 LB
  5. SIO MOORE (RAIDERS):  one of my favorite rookie’s in ’13, when he got his snaps Sio shined and definitely can become the best LB in Oakland.  Big play LB – stash now.
  6. MALCOLM SMITH (SEAHAWKS):  Malcolm can ball and has taken the next step in ’13, he has spot duty though because Wagner, Wright and Irvin are the starters but unless Irvin moves to DL in ’14 than Malcolm becomes a deep league stash.
  7. LAROY REYNOLDS (JAGUARS):  Russell Allen isn’t the answer and LaRoy can definitely be a solid compliment to Poz, so why hasn’t Jaguars given Reynolds a shot? I wish I could tell you but I believe he’ll battle for a starting spot next season, worth the risk worth the stash, has potential.
  8. KEENAN ROBINSON (REDSKINS):  ever wondered who Fletchers successor is? That is Keenan Robinson who has barely seen the field last 2 seasons, but Fletcher isn’t getting younger and the players are getting faster, enter Keenan.  The strength of the Redskins are their LB’s and one can vouch Brandon Jenkins here too so keep his name in mind.  The potential is there and if you’re in a deep league or have a deep roster, stash Robinson.
  9. BARKEVIOUS MINGO (BROWNS):  had a stretch in ’13 where he racked up sack after sack, he’s fast and he will be nasty off the edge.  Big play LB in the making and will be in Aldon/Von territory – patience.
  10. VINCENT REY (BENGALS):  he probably got picked up after his 2 game stretch of pure dominance and high scoring in IDP leagues, but since has been quiet (thanks to Maualuga).  Don’t worry though, if Bengals had their mind right Rey would’ve remained there and they’d get rid of Maualuga.  We seen the potential and that spells LB2 and possibly higher.

10 DEFENSIVE BACKS

  1. SHAMARKO THOMAS (STEELERS):  Clark & Polamalu is up there in age and won’t be there much longer, enter Shamarko who reminds me of Bob Sanders.  Once he gets snaps and starts he definitely will be a lock for DB2 with DB1 potential because of creating turnovers and high tackle numbers.
  2. DAVID AMERSON (REDSKINS):  Amerson is a ball hawk and has the potential to lead the league in INT’s once he gets that starting job.
  3. SHAWN WILLIAMS (BENGALS):  in ’13 preseason we seen what Williams could do (when Illoka was out) and what we saw was he has a knack for the ball and will get you those tackles (had double digit tackles), I expect Shawn to start in ’14 as he should, he can be the best safety in Cincy too.
  4. BYRON MAXWELL (SEAHAWKS):  with Browner gone, Maxwell has stepped up his game and emerged on radar.  With Sherman opposite, Byron will see his fair share of opportunities to make plays, DB’s are hard to predict but Maxwell has some upside.
  5. KAYVON WEBSTER (BRONCOS):  I see some serious DB2 status with Webster, looks like he’ll give you a handful of tackles and those pass deflections will come.
  6. DESMOND TRUFANT (FALCONS):  has definitely flown under the radar even though he’s having a pretty good rookie season.  He’ll only get better and Trufant has the potential to lead league in Interceptions, if not pass deflections.  Entering ’14 he’ll have some solid DB3 status with DB2 potential.
  7. CASEY HAYWARD (PACKERS):  hasn’t played a down in ’13 after a great rookie season.  If he’s on your waivers I’d go pick him up because he’ll take over the CB1 duties once he returns or at least his starting job back.  Gives you deflections and creates turnovers, grab him!
  8. OMAR BOLDEN (BRONCOS):  late in ’13 has taken over Ihenacho and could be an audition of things to come from Bolden as season continues.  Prior to injuries Ihenacho had borderline DB1 numbers, can’t see why Bolden can’t put up those numbers in this defense.
  9. JOSH EVANS (JAGUARS):  Jaguars have a solid future ahead of them, won’t have to draft any safety for years as they have their future in Evans and Cyprien.  Evans hasn’t played much but when he did he was ok, don’t sweat it though when the game comes to him watch out – will be battling Cyprien for tackles.
  10. BRANDON BOYKIN (EAGLES):  Boykin has the tools to be a starter; he and Fletcher should be the 1 & 2 in Philly while Cary sits as the slot corner.  Boykin’s has performed well & has a knack for deflections.  One of those DB’s you can stream and also one to stash, if he starts – solid numbers can follow.

That’s a wrap folks, yes I realize we still have 2 more weeks left in the 2013 season, but why wait? If you have a chance to get an advantage on your league, start now.  Drop the deadbeats and roster potential, and for those in the championship round in their respective league I wish you the best of luck.
