Pittsburgh: Marc-Andre Fleury (17-8-1, 2.01 GAA, .922 Save Pct.) Fleury is PROBABLE, but don’t be stunned if Jeff Zatkoff snipes the start from him. Pittsburgh plays again tomorrow.

Our pick- Vancouver

Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks:

*Note* As always, we play our Daily Fantasy Hockey over at Draft Kings.

Center:

Our pick- Nicklas Backstrom– Washington Capitals | $8,200 | @ FLA: Backstrom is coming off a one goal and four assist performance against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 6-5 shootout win on Tuesday. The Capitals are well rested, and should slaughter a Panthers team starting a struggling goaltender.

Alternate options

Ryan Kesler– Vancouver Canucks | $8,100 | vs. EDM: Edmonton played last night against a tough Boston Bruins team. This game could be a big time blowout, especially considering Edmonton’s penalty-kill deficiency.

Mikhail Grabovski– Washington Capitals | $5,700 | @ FLA: The 29-year-old center from Potsdam, East Germany has seven points in his past six games. The only risk with this pick is that “Grabo” doesn’t shoot enough to salvage any value if he fails to record a point. In his past five games, the former fifth-round pick has just five shots, with four of them coming in one game against the New York Rangers.

Mike Santorelli– Vancouver Canucks | $5,000 | vs. EDM: The 28-year-old Vancouver native seems very comfortable playing for his home-town team the Canucks. Not only does the former Florida Panther have a career best 0.64 point per game mark, (21 points in 33 games) he has a plus-10 plus/minus rating. Not including this year, Santorelli is a minus-52 for his career, and to-date has never recorded a “non-negative” plus/minus mark over the course of an entire season. Riding the 6’0 189 pound center against what will be an exhausted Oilers team, is a good move.

Left Wing:

Our pick- Jason Chimera– Washington Capitals | $4,400 | @ FLA: The 34-year-old burly forward has a 0.58 point per game mark on the season. That rate is a career best for the native of Edmonton, Alberta. Chimera also has three games in his past four, with more than three shots on net. He doesn’t supplant those efforts with much shot blocking (just three blocks in his past eleven games), so he’s a bit one-dimensional, but it’s a good matchup.

Alternate options:

Daniel Sedin– Vancouver Canucks | $6,900 | vs. EDM: Sedin is skating a career high 21 minutes and 43 seconds, and with 11 power-play points on the year, he’s a great start.

Right Wing:

Our pick- Alex Ovechkin– Washington Capitals | $10,000 | @ FLA: This one is the biggest no-brainer ever. Despite the huge price, Ovechkin is an unquestionable must start. Don’t even look at other options for this spot.

Alternate Options: (For your UTILITY spot)

Eric Fehr– Washington Capitals | $3,700 | @ FLA: The 28-year-old Manitoba native is skating a career high 14:19 this year, and has really found comfort alongside Grabovski and Brouwer. He’s got a good matchup

Troy Brouwer– Washington Capitals | $4,000 | @ FLA: A former Stanley Cup Champion winner with the Chicago Blackhawks, Brouwer has struggled mightily this season — posting just 0.16 points per game. The good news for Brouwer is that he is still seeing significant power-play time.

Defense:

Dmitry Orlov– Washington Capitals | $2,500 | @ FLA: This is a price based decision, without question. Orlov is skating on the number one even strength unit with John Carlson ($5,500, and is also a good start).

Chris Tanev– Vancouver Canucks | $3,400 | vs. EDM: The 23-year-old native of Toronto, Ontario is registering career high’s across the board under head coach John Tortorella. Tanev is skating with Dan Hamhuis on the number one even strength unit.

Alternate Options:

Jason Garrison– Vancouver Canucks | $6,200 | vs. EDM: If you can afford him, Garrison is a beautiful pick. Since predicting Garrison to record a point against the Chicago Blackhawks, the 29-year-old from White Rock, British Columbia has 10 points in his past nine games. This is what we wrote for that Daily Fantasy article about Garrison against Chicago.

Jason Garrison ($4,000) hasn’t registered a point since the Reconstruction Era of 1877, which has landed him in the doghouse of his fiery head coach.” — earlier we had discussed that the Blackhawks had a horrendous penalty-kill unit, and that he was likely to get on the scoreboard.

Dan Hamhuis, ($4,300) is also a nice pick.

Goaltender:

Our pick- Philipp Grubauer- Washington Capitals | $8,300 | @ FLA: The cheapest option tonight is also the safest option. Florida is terrible. Don’t think twice about this one, however, if you feel the itch to not trust a young goaltender, go with Roberto Luongo ($9,600)

Utility:

We chose from our listed alternate options for our utility spots: Troy Brouwer ($4,000), Eric Fehr ($3,700) and Mike Santorelli ($5,000).
