Welcome to the tenth week of the Fix DL Report. Each week I (@Rich_Migs) will cover significant fantasy baseball injuries. As the season continues, the report will address some of the most recent injuries and their fantasy implications.

OUT FOR THE SEASON: Patrick Corbin, Brandon Beachy, Kris Medlen, Jarrod Parker, Cory Luebke, Bruce Rondon, Bobby Parnell, Jameson Taillon, Avisail Garcia, Matt Moore, Maicer Izturis, Ivan Nova, A.J. Griffin, Jose Fernandez, Martin Perez, Prince Fielder, Chris Withrow

PLAYERS TO WATCH (Not on DL/DL Updates): Wil Myers, Mike Trout (back), Mark Teixeira (wrist), Josh Reddick (knee), Brandon Moss (calf), Billy Hamilton (elbow), Nelson Cruz (hand), Tim Lincecum (blister), Bronson Arroyo (elbow), Tommy Medica (quad), Cameron Maybin (calf), Joel Hanrahan (elbow), Luis Valbuena (abdomen), Carter Capps (elbow), Sean Burnett (elbow)

Myers is dealing with a possible fracture in his wrist. It has been a season of bad for Myers thus far.

Trout is expected back today, as is Teixeira.

Hitters, more so than pitchers, landed on the disabled list this week. On the bright side, we managed to get a few players back healthy this week. So we will take the small victories.

Two key fantasy arms went down recently in Yordano Ventura and Cliff Lee and here is an update on each: Ventura has avoided disaster so far, but I am pretty shocked that the Royals are willing to pitch him so soon after such a scare. He is expected to pitch this week, but it may have been wiser to put him on the DL and let him throw some simulated games. Ventura apparently needs to learn how to pace himself better in games and the team should have taken the cautious approach and worked him out over a couple of weeks. As for Lee, he has made some progress and could return in the next couple of weeks.

Here is week nine’s DL report. I will be doing my best to avoid too much repetition each week, so be sure to refer back to the past DL reports to keep track of all the injuries. Let’s take a look at some of the key fantasy players on the disabled list entering the week.

Week Ten:

Pitchers

Injury

Expected Return

Fantasy Implications

Matt Cain (SP)

Hamstring

Early June

Cain is expected back this week unless there is some sort of set-back. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for concern, however.

Clay Buchholz (SP)

Knee

June

Buchholz hyper-extended his knee and is trying to make his way back. There are plans for him to throw a simulated game Saturday.

Others on the DL: Sean Burnett (elbow), Chris Withrow (elbow), Carter Capps (elbow)

Hitters

Injury

Expected Return

Fantasy Implications

Matt Adams (1B)

Calf

June

Adams should be fine, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy Oscar Taveras. If he shows enough, the Cardinals may allow him to take over centerfield the rest of the way.

Carl Crawford (OF)

Ankle

Mid June

Crawford hasn’t been terrible for fantasy owners so far in 2014, but he hasn’t been very good at baseball in a while. Feet, legs, and other lower body injuries aren’t good for a player that needs to steal 30-plus bases to be a fantasy asset.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia (C)

Concussion

June

I did decent on the salty spelling bee, only leaving out the “h” initially. Salty has a concussion and the timetable for a return can be tricky.

A.J. Pollock (OF)

Hand

Late-July/August

Pollock was performing well and looked like he could give a lot of sneaky value to owners this season, but again; this is a season where we aren’t allowed nice things. He had surgery on his broken hand and will be out at least six weeks.

Juan Lagares (OF)

Intercostal Strain

June

A likely better real life player because of his defense, Lagares has had some trouble staying healthy this season. Matt den Dekker and Bobby Abreu will see increased playing time.

Others on the DL: Danny Valencia (wrist), Mike Carp (foot), Ryan Hanigan (hamstring)
