Pitchers to avoid

Top streaming options available in at least 50 percent of ESPN leagues

Collin McHugh – Tuesday at Cleveland – McHugh’s only allowed more than one earned run twice in his last eight starts, and he allowed just two in both those starts. In those eight starts he has 42 strikeouts and only five walks. Cleveland hits righties well, but it ranks just 16th in wOBA over the last 30 days. McHugh is almost an auto-start in any situation now, anyways.

Brandon McCarthy – Wednesday at Tampa Bay – McCarthy has continued to pitch mostly well in his tenure in New York. He’s getting strikeouts and controlling his walks well. Tampa ranks last in wOBA over the past 30 days.

Henderson Alvarez – Wednesday at New York Mets – Alvarez was hit hard by Colorado and the Angels recently, but who hasn’t been? The Mets are a lower-third team in wOBA against righties, and with David Wright out their lineup is rather unimposing. Alvarez is capable of going deep into this game and helping you across the board.

Dallas Keuchel – Saturday vs. Seattle – Keuchel is 8-for-9 in quality starts in his last nine outings. While his strikeouts have dipped some he’s still going deep into games. Seattle ranks 28th in wOBA against lefties on the sason.

Yusmeiro Petit – Saturday at San Diego – Yusmeiro’s pitched well for a lot of the season, and as he’s taken over for Tim Lincecum in the rotation he’s continued doing so. He pitched a complete game last time out, and in his three starts since joining the rotation he has 23 strikeouts and one walk. The Padres rank last in wOBA against righties and 28th in wOBA over the last 30 days.
