2014 Fantasy Football Daily Fix: Week 11 Tight Ends

DailyFixDKFeaturedImageIt is on to week 11 of Daily Fantasy Football at DraftKings. I’m back again this week to offer my picks for the Tight End position at DraftKings. We still have bye weeks up on us in Week 11, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s see if we can find one of those diamonds in the rough for Week 11 DFS slate.

This is a great week to check out DraftKings and pick up a new way to play fantasy football.

DraftKings Tight End Recommendations

If you’ve never played on DraftKings before, you can get a deposit bonus by signing up. And there are different options to pick from at DraftKings for any skill level.

Also, a gentle reminder on the scoring for Tight Ends – this is a PPR site so remember that when selecting players. The full for scoring for Tight Ends is at the end of this column.

Tight Ends can also be used in the flex position at DraftKings. However, with the entire world of RBs and WRs at your disposal, it would be unlikely you’d have to head to the TEs to pick up a flex play. Jimmy Graham is always in play as a flex option.

Let’s take a look at a couple of options at each price point. For those who are new to the column, I’ll generally look at a couple of options in each pricing tier broken out based on the socioeconomic status of 1970s sitcom families. And I’ll always cover Jimmy Graham.

I’ll mention Football Outsiders a lot over the season – the passes per game and yards per game stats I use are from Football Outsiders. Here is the link to Football Outsiders’ 2013 stats. FO stats for 2014 are here and I like to use the defense versus types of receivers to fill out my rosters.

Teams on bye: Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets – We don’t lose a ton, but we do lose a couple of friendly defenses.

The Graham Tier

Jimmy Graham | Saints | $7,000 – Graham isn’t the most expensive TE this week (more on that later). Back to back 20+ point games has Graham back in our good graces. And he’s got a fine matchup against a Bengals team that is still a bit banged up at LB. Graham is certainly in play this week. The Bengals have been good against TEs the last couple of weeks but they’ve faced TE-poor teams in the Jags and Ravens.

The Jeffersons

Rob Gronkowski | Patriots | $7,900 – Gronk is the most expensive TE this week and for good reason. He’s been nearly unstoppable the last two weeks and this week’s matchup doesn’t look like it will slow that pace. I’d probably go with Graham if I’m going to pay for a TE this week and save the $900, but Gronk should put up another 20+ point game this week.

All in the Family

Travis Kelce | Chiefs | $4,000 – Kelce faces off against the Seahawks who have been either boom or bust against TEs this season. Kelce’s usage has spiked a bit lately and he continues to flash ridiculous athletic ability as he continues to be the second best weapon in the Chiefs’ offense.

Good Times

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings | $3,600 – Rudolph is due back from a lengthy injury this week. I’d rather see Rudolph at the minimum, but his matchup is so juicy against the worst TE defense in the league that he has to be considered. The Bears gave up two TDs to TEs last week – neither with much of a pedigree. It’s likely that Rudolph will be on a snap count, but he should produce even with that limitation.

Jared Cook | Rams | $3,500 – Cook had a big week against the Cards scoring on a 59 yard catch – one of two catches he had on the day. He gets another cherry matchup this week against a Broncos team that has given up five TDs to TEs in the last five games to both great (Gronk and Gates) and not so great (Jace Amaro) and in between (Mychal Rivera). Cook gets Shaun Hill back at QB so there will be a bit more stability there.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins | Buccaneers | $3,500 – ASJ picked up nine targets last week with Josh McCown at QB. It’s possible he’s going to see an uptick in usage going forward (especially with the mess that is the Bucs’ backfield). His matchup is good as Washington has struggled against TEs over the last couple of weeks.

Eric Ebron ($3,000) of the Lions looks like he’ll be back from injury this week and gets a favorable matchup against the Cardinals. He’s a punt option as his athleticism gives him a chance at TD any week he’s in the lineup. Vernon Davis ($3,000) is another punt option, but he’s got just about zero upside as his season high in catches (four) was in week one. He’s just not a part of the offense right now as the 49ers’ offensive line struggles and Davis is called upon to help the line out.

Good luck in Week 11!

10 Receiving Yards = +1PT (+0.1PT per yard is awarded)
