2014 Fantasy Football: Week 11 QB and D/ST Streaming Options

Defense/Special Teams streaming has been a popular option for a while now for fantasy owners. But quarterback streaming has begun being put into use just recently, it seems. As the demand grows we must meet it with a supply of fantasy articles. Each week I’ll highlight as many appealing quarterbacks and defenses fantasy owners can pick up for that week to stream in their starting lineups. As the season progresses, more options will appear as teams and players are dropped and we discover who’s real and who’s not. If you have any questions about these picks or fantasy football in general, hit me up on Twitter @44AMiller.

Quarterback (Notable quarterbacks on bye: Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, Michael Vick, Blake Bortles)

Robert Griffin III (51 percent owned ESPN, 60 percent owned Yahoo!) vs. Tampa Bay – Tampa Bay has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year, including six multi-touchdown games to quarterbacks. Griffin looked just fine in his comeback two weeks ago, and he’s had a bye week to get even healthier. The Bucs have nothing to play for and have looked miserable in so many games this year that it’s hard to see Griffin not doing well this week.

Derek Carr (9%, 11%) at San Diego – San Diego is allowing 21 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this year, but that number has skyrocketed to 26 in the last five weeks, making the Chargers the third-worst defense against QBs in that timespan. They’ve given up three or more touchdown passes in three of their last four games, including four scores to Carr in Week 6. Carr has back-to-back two-score games, and regardless of game flow he’ll be chucking the ball around a lot Sunday.

Teddy Bridgewater (11%, 9%) at Chicago – The Bears have allowed the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year as well as the second-most passing touchdowns and 14 touchdowns in their last four games. Chicago has also looked very miserable in a lot of games this year, and Bridgewater has shown signs of improvement throughout the year. Just like with Griffin it’s hard to envision Bridgewater doing poorly in such a favorable matchup.

Note: Josh McCown (6%, 19%) does face the 27th-ranked Washington defense this week, and he did throw for 300 yards and two scores last week. However, I do not feel confident in suggesting him as an option this week. But if he is available in your league he does have a good matchup.

Defense

Pittsburgh (55%, 53%) at Tennessee – Tennessee has scored the fewest points in the league this year, and their 25 sacks allowed are tied for the ninth-most. The Titans have only scored more than 14 points twice this season. The Steelers sucked against the Jets, but they still recorded four sacks and have 10 in the last three weeks. Zach Mettenberger has three interceptions on only 73 attempts this season.

Minnesota (23%, 24%) at Chicago – Minnesota ranks ninth on the year among defenses, and it’s had four of its five best fantasy weeks in the past four games. The Vikings have 20 sacks in their last four games. The Bears have allowed at least three sacks in six of nine games and are giving up two turnovers a week, too.

Cleveland (34%, 48%) vs. Houston – The Browns rank 13th on the year in fantasy points for defenses, and they too have had four of their five best weeks fantasy-wise in their last four games. Ryan Mallett is scheduled to make his first career start, and Arian Foster has missed the last two practices and will be a game-time decision Sunday. That adds up to a very juicy start for Cleveland, which is allowing 13 points in its last five games while forcing a ton of turnovers.
