It is on to week 16 of Daily Fantasy Football at DraftKings. I’m back again this week to offer my picks for the Tight End position at DraftKings.

Read on to see what we should do for Week 16. I’ve also added a quick look at the Thursday game options at the end of the column. Also, note that there is a Saturday doubleheader as well and there are options to play the Thursday through Saturday games only.

A note on the Thursday through Saturday game at DraftKings – you can pick the highest priced player at each position and still have money left over so I won’t spend too much time on them this week. It’s all about picking the best matchups – no need to mess around.

This is a great week to check out DraftKings and pick up a new way to play fantasy football.

DraftKings Tight End Recommendations

If you’ve never played on DraftKings before, you can get a deposit bonus by signing up. And there are different options to pick from at DraftKings for any skill level.

Also, a gentle reminder on the scoring for Tight Ends – this is a PPR site so remember that when selecting players. The full for scoring for Tight Ends is at the end of this column.

Tight Ends can also be used in the flex position at DraftKings. However, with the entire world of RBs and WRs at your disposal, it would be unlikely you’d have to head to the TEs to pick up a flex play. Jimmy Graham Rob Gronkowski is always in play as a flex option. Jimmy Graham has disappointed us too many times. He is no longer our #1 option.

Let’s take a look at a couple of options at each price point. For those who are new to the column, I’ll generally look at a couple of options in each pricing tier broken out based on the socioeconomic status of 1970s sitcom families. And I’ll always cover Jimmy Graham Rob Gronkowski.

I’ll mention Football Outsiders a lot over the season – the passes per game and yards per game stats I use are from Football Outsiders. Here is the link to Football Outsiders’ 2013 stats. FO stats for 2014 are here and I like to use the defense versus types of receivers to fill out my rosters.

Teams on bye: None

The Gronk Tier

Rob Gronkowski | Patriots | $7,000 – Gronk’s price dropped $600 this week, but his matchup improved significantly as he gets a Jets’ team that just can’t cover TEs. The Jets give up just under 6 passes to TE per game (near the bottom of the NFL), but those catches are high scoring ones. Gronk put up only 11.8 points against the Jets in the Week 7 matchup and has actually been worse on the road (15 points per game than at home with 22.7 points per game). I don’t think there is a need to pay for a top TE this week as the spread between the top and the bottom of viable TEs is thin.

The Jeffersons

Jimmy Graham | Saints | $6,300 – I don’t know what to do with Graham at this point. The Saints had two TDs thrown to TEs last week, but none went to Graham. The opportunities are there, but it seems like Graham just can’t capitalize on those chances. I continue to wonder if Graham is hurt. Graham’s matchup isn’t great so I’ll pass this week even though there should be a ton of points scored against the Falcons.

All in the Family

Travis Kelce | Chiefs | $4,600 – Kelce finally seems to be an integral part of the Chiefs’ offense as he’s scored 15+ points in each of the last two weeks and has 15 targets over those two weeks.  His matchup is good against a beat up Steelers’ defense. He should be good for five catches and a TD this week.  He’ll be in more than one of my lineups this week.

Jason Witten | Cowboys | $4,000 – Witten finally returned to the land of the double digit scorers last week. His matchup is good again this week against the Colts. The Cowboys need to keep winning and Tony Romo will need his security blanket.

Good Times

Dwayne Allen | Colts | $3,800 – There is not a lot here in the bottom tier. Allen is the TD TE for the Colts as he has eight TDs in 12 games. He’s an all or nothing play, but he’s got a cherry matchup with the Cowboys who give up the second most DraftKings’ points to TEs.

Jermaine Gresham | Bengals | $3,000 – Gresham has become a slightly bigger portion of the Bengals’ offense scoring TDs in two out of the last four weeks. Denver is poor against the TE and just lost Danny Trevathan for the season. Gresham’s upside is pretty limited (as is his athleticism), but his floor is high and I can expect to see double digit points this week.

Thursday through Saturday Games

There are three NFL games that fall into the DraftKings’ Thursday game play slot. I’d suggest you get some lineups in to this short slate – this are my favorite types of setups.

The three games are:

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars (Thursday night)
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington (Saturday afternoon)
San Diego Chargers at San Francisco 49ers (Saturday night)

The Philly/Washington game is the only game with a total of interest as the over/under is at 50.5 right now. However, it’s not clear where the TE value might be in that game. Jordan Reed ($3,800) missed practice on Wednesday though it wasn’t for an injury and no one is saying why he missed. The matchup isn’t the best, so I’d steer away. Zach Ertz ($3,200) has a great matchup against the faltering DC defense, but he still splits time with Brent Celek ($3,000) so he’s a punt play (and you don’t need them in the Thur/Sat game).

If I’m playing Thursday I’m going with either Antonio Gates ($5,000) or Delanie Walker ($4,400). I prefer Walker as I believe he’ll continue to be heavily targeted in the Titans “offense.”  However, I can see the argument for Gates as well as Keenan Allen won’t be playing this week so Gates will likely see an uptick in targets (though he’ll also probably garner a bit more attention from the Niners defense).

There is no truth to the rumor that Vernon Davis ($3,000) is deceased though he had as many catches last week as you did.

Good luck in Week 16!

10 Receiving Yards = +1PT (+0.1PT per yard is awarded)
