2013 Fantasy Football: Week 12 Target Practice

Key: I – Player missed game or left game early due to injury. S – Player was suspended for game. A – Player was inactive. B – Bye week. Most notable players who missed a game due to injury or benching are marked with an S or A. If a lesser-known player was inactive, etc., I just put a 0 in his weekly spot because I don’t know if that player was just inactive, hurt, etc. Ownership numbers are posted in parentheses next to notable players’ names, with ESPN first followed by Yahoo!

Floyd (68, 72) has back to back 100-yard games and gets the 29th-ranked Eagles and 17th-ranked Rams’ pass defenses in the next two weeks. Housler (2, 15) has at least 50 yards in four of his past five

Carolina

Ted Ginn Jr.: 1-8-4-B-5-3-2-6-3-4-3-10 (49) Brandon LaFell: 0-6-5-B-9-4-4-5-9-8-8-5 (63) Greg Olsen: 10-8-8-B-6-4-4-4-5-3-8-9 (69) Steve Smith: 8-11-7-B-10-7-6-7-10-11-6-8 (91) Jonathan Stewart: I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-3-0-0-1 (4) Mike Tolbert: 1-3-0-B-1-3-0-4-4-3-0-1 (20) DeAngelo Williams: 3-0-2-B-3-5-1-3-2-2-3-3 (27)

Ginn’s 10 targets led the team this week, but he only caught three passes for 11 yards.

Chicago

Earl Bennett: 1-2-3-4-3-2-4-B-0-3-1-8 (31) Martellus Bennett: 6-9-5-12-5-7-3-B-8-6-2-5 (68) Matt Forte: 6-11-4-6-6-6-3-B-8-7-6-9 (72) Alshon Jeffery: 8-5-8-11-13-5-7-B-9-18-11-8 (103) Brandon Marshall: 10-10-8-14-5-11-10-B-13-12-10-12 (115)

Earl Bennett saw a season-high eight targets, catching all of them, but he gained just 58 yards.

Cincinnati

Giovani Bernard: 2-2-4-7-3-7-6-2-4-8-5-B (50) Tyler Eifert: 5-5-2-5-7-3-4-4-4-10-1-B (50) A.J. Green: 13-14-8-15-8-11-8-7-19-15-5-B (123) BenJarvus Green-Ellis: 1-1-0-0-1-1-0-0-0-0-B (4) Jermaine Gresham: 5-9-5-5-4-4-5-3-7-6-B (53) Andrew Hawkins: I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-2-0-2-B (4) Marvin Jones: 2-4-4-3-2-5-6-8-7-7-2-B (50) Mohamed Sanu: 5-8-5-6-2-6-2-3-9-8-5-B (59)

Cleveland

Davone Bess: 10-8-10-6-5-3-6-8-4-B-6-8 (74) Jordan Cameron: 13-7-11-12-5-6-9-4-5-B-7-10 (89) Josh Gordon: S-S-19-9-6-9-6-10-7-B-15-17 (98) Greg Little: 10-12-8-2-5-5-9-3-9-B-6-7 (76) Willis McGahee: A-A-A-0-2-1-1-2-B-2-0 (8) Chris Ogbonnaya: 3-0-5-5-2-12-2-4-6-B-12-5 (56) Fozzy Whittaker: 0-0-0-0-0-0-5-2-4-B-5-5 (21)

I know I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but regardless of who’s at quarterback Gordon (14-237-1) is a must-start every week. His 109 yards per game is easily second in the league.

Dallas

Miles Austin: 12-4-5-I-I-4-3-0-I-I-B-3 (31) Cole Beasley: 0-0-1-3-4-5-7-3-9-4-B-4 (40) Dez Bryant: 8-13-6-9-10-8-16-6-11-2-B-16 (105) Gavin Escobar: 2-1-2-0-3-0-1-0-0-B-1 (10) James Hanna: 0-5-0-0-1-1-0-2-1-3-B-0 (13) Dwayne Harris: 3-0-1-2-2-0-0-2-2-1-B-0 (13) DeMarco Murray: 10-6-3-5-1-2-I-I-7-2-B-3 (39) Joseph Randle: 0-0-0-0-0-2-4-4-0-0-B-0 (10) Terrance Williams: 4-3-0-8-4-2-7-10-7-5-B-2 (52) Jason Witten: 9-8-6-10-10-5-6-2-10-6-B-7 (79)

In Austin’s first game in five weeks, neither he nor Williams were heavily involved in the passing game. They combined for just two catches for 27 yards, and Williams’ 63 snap percentage was his lowest since Week 6. Austin played 74 percent of snaps, so neither receiver played a normal amount of starter’s reps. But I wouldn’t feel comfortable starting either as long as both are healthy.

Denver

Montee Ball: 0-2-0-0-0-2-0-1-B-0-4-3 (12) Eric Decker: 7-13-8-7-8-7-13-7-B-5-6-4 (85) Ronnie Hillman: 2-1-1-3-4-2-1-0-B-0-0-0 (14) Knowshon Moreno: 3-3-2-1-5-10-6-6-B-8-1-1 (46) Demaryius Thomas: 11-6-11-10-6-5-9-11-B-10-13-9 (101) Julius Thomas: 7-9-4-4-12-7-6-3-B-5-5-I (62) Wes Welker: 11-8-8-9-6-8-12-10-B-6-10-8 (96)

Jacob Tamme, filling in for the injured Thomas, caught all five of his targets for 47 yards and a score. Even with that production, Tamme only played 33 percent of snaps. Thomas should be back this week, so don’t think about a pick-up unless for some reason Thomas experiences a setback.

Detroit

Joique Bell: 6-8-5-4-4-2-4-1-B-1-4-3 (42) Nate Burleson: 6-8-9-I-I-I-I-I-B-I-I-10 (33) Reggie Bush: 8-4-I-6-6-6-5-9-B-6-5-7 (62) Kris Durham: 2-2-3-4-8-13-8-6-B-1-9-6 (62) Joseph Fauria: 3-0-3-0-0-3-4-0-B-2-2-1 (19) Calvin Johnson: 9-8-13-10-I-8-15-16-B-17-13-14 (123) Brandon Pettigrew: 4-6-2-7-5-4-7-6-B-5-5-5 (56)

Burleson (3, 26) caught seven passes for 77 yards and a score in his first game since Week 3. He played 91 percent of snaps, which is the above his season average. He should be picked up in all leagues and possibly started in most.

Green Bay

Brandon Bostick: 0-0-0-B-0-0-0-0-0-3-1-5 (9) Jarrett Boykin: 0-0-0-B-0-6-10-6-1-13-8-10 (54) Randall Cobb: 12-10-11-B-8-4-I-I-I-I-I-I (45) Jermichael Finley: 8-7-1-B-6-7-5-I-I-I-I-I (34) Johnathan Franklin: 0-0-3-B-0-1-1-0-0-0-0-0 (5) James Jones: 2-12-8-B-6-1-I-I-3-7-6-12 (57) Eddie Lacy: 2-I-I-B-1-1-7-4-0-2-2-6 (25) John Kuhn: 1-0-0-B-0-2-1-2-0-2-3-4 (15) Jordy Nelson: 10-4-9-B-7-10-6-8-9-10-9-7 (89) Andrew Quarless: 0-3-5-B-0-0-1-2-7-4-3-3 (28) James Starks: 1-5-0-B-0-0-0-0-0-1-0-2 (9) Myles White: 0-0-0-B-0-0-2-7-1-1-0-0 (11)

Jones led the team in targets and yards last week, and is now averaging over four catches and almost 60 yards a game in his last three. Meh, I know. But Green Bay has Detroit’s league-worst defense against receivers this week, and Jones has played over 90 percent of snaps the last three weeks, which is better than his season average. So you should be comfortable starting him Thursday.

Houston

Owen Daniels: 7-5-9-11-9-I-I-B-I-I-I-I (43) Arian Foster: 8-4-2-8-5-7-0-B-1-I-I-I (35) Garrett Graham: 5-5-0-6-5-4-8-B-6-3-13-9 (64) DeAndre Hopkins: 6-13-7-3-4-5-4-B-6-11-2-4 (65) Andre Johnson: 16-13-6-12-10-8-6-B-13-12-17-6 (119) Dennis Johnson: I-I-I-I-I-I-0-B-0-1-0-2 (3) Keshawn Martin: 0-2-3-6-1-2-0-B-0-0-5-2 (21) DeVier Posey: 0-0-4-0-2-1-2-B-4-6-4-1 (24) Ben Tate: 2-4-4-1-2-4-3-B-2-5-6-6 (39)

Indianapolis

LaVon Brazill: A-A-A-A-A-0-0-B-2-5-1-5 (13) Donald Brown: 0-0-1-2-2-2-3-B-2-5-1-2 (20) Coby Fleener: 1-8-2-7-3-6-5-B-5-10-10-8 (65) Darrius Heyward-Bey: 4-5-5-6-6-2-7-B-6-6-3-6 (56) T.Y. Hilton: 5-12-4-9-6-8-11-B-12-8-9-9 (93) Trent Richardson 0-0-3-1-1-2-0-B-3-5-5-2 (22) Griff Whalen: 0-3-0-0-0-0-0-B-9-5-3 (15)

Brazill had five targets and three catches last week, while seeing a season-high in snap percentage. But the Colts have three tough passing matchups in a row coming up, so unless he’s targeted more in the next game he’s not worth a look. Fleener (60, 72) has seen at least eight targets in each of his last three games, and last week he had his highest snap percentage in seven weeks. He should be picked up and can be started.

Jacksonville

Mike Brown: 3-0-0-0-0-5-8-6-B-4-3-I (29) Clay Harbor: 1-4-1-8-5-3-0-1-B-1-5-1 (30) Maurice Jones-Drew: 2-1-5-1-3-2-2-8-B-4-4-6 (38) Marcedes Lewis: 0-0-0-0-0-0-3-3-B-6-7-1 (20) Ace Sanders: 9-7-3-8-1-3-0-1-B-1-10-5 (48) Cecil Shorts: 11-14-15-12-10-1-13-10-B-4-5-11 (106)

Kansas City

Donnie Avery: 5-4-7-10-4-4-4-5-5-B-3-5 (56) Dwayne Bowe: 6-8-3-7-6-4-9-2-12-B-14-6 (77) Jamaal Charles: 6-10-8-11-9-9-4-7-7-B-8-6 (85) Anthony Fasano: 5-2-0-0-o-I-5-3-1-B-4-5 (25) Dexter McCluster: 5-4-4-5-3-5-5-10-4-B-8-10 (63) Sean McGrath: 0-4-4-5-6-3-2-2-0-B-3-1 (30) Anthony Sherman: 4-0-2-1-2-0-4-3-0-B-3-2 (21)

McCluster (3, 9) has averaged six catches and 56 yards the past two weeks on 18 total targets. In the next five weeks Washington is somehow the best defense against receivers that Kansas City plays so McCluster could see a late-season run that could help your fantasy team. He’s worth a bench spot as a guy with some high upside.

Miami

Charles Clay: 6-7-6-6-6-B-3-8-3-8-7-7 (67) Brian Hartline: 14-8-6-4-7-B-11-6-5-8-13-5 (87) Rishard Matthews: 0-0-4-2-0-B-1-6-4-14-6-7 (44) Lamar Miller: 1-2-3-3-0-B-3-3-4-3-2-4 (28) Daniel Thomas: 1-1-1-1-2-B-1-1-2-0-1-2 (13) Mike Wallace: 5-11-5-7-16-B-10-10-8-7-6-10 (95)

Minnesota

John Carlson: 1-2-2-2-B-2-2-2-6-7-7-5 (38) Toby Gerhart: 0-0-2-1-B-2-3-2-1-0-3-1 (15) Greg Jennings: 7-6-6-4-B-10-10-3-9-4-I-3 (62) Cordarrelle Patterson: 1-2-4-2-B-2-6-3-4-4-9-11 (48) Adrian Peterson: 4-2-6-1-B-4-4-3-3-2-3-1 (33) Jerome Simpson: 8-5-8-11-B-7-9-3-5-6-2-4 (68) Jarius Wright: 2-2-4-1-B-2-5-0-5-2-4-1 (28)

Patterson (3, 19) has played over 50 percent of snaps the last two weeks, which is the best two-week stretch of his season. He led Minnesota in targets last week, but only had 54 yards. He has two return touchdowns already, so if you have room on your bench in 12-teamers and deeper Patterson could be a worthy add who’ll also see a late-season increase in production.

New England

Danny Amendola: 14-I-I-I-9-4-I-6-4-B-7-6 (49) LeGarrette Blount: 0-1-0-0-0-1-0-0-0-B-0-0 (2) Brandon Bolden: 0-0-6-1-0-3-3-2-0-B-0-1 (16) Aaron Dobson: 0-10-10-3-4-10-7-5-9-B-7-0 (55) Julian Edelman: 9-18-7-9-7-11-7-2-4-B-4-11 (89) Rob Gronkowski: I-I-I-I-I-I-17-5-10-B-7-10 (49) Stevan Ridley: 0-0-0-2-0-1-2-0-4-B-0-0 (9) Kenbrell Thompkins: 14-7-7-11-4-6-5-1-A-B-2-9 (66) Shane Vereen: 10-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-B-11-11 (32)

Green, a very gifted athlete, saw a season-high 41 percent of snaps and also gained 80 receiving yards for the second straight week. He has a lot of big-play ability (22 yards per catch) and should be owned in some leagues over lower-upside guys like Brandon Myers and Garrett Graham.

Kenny Britt: 2-9-5-I-6-1-2-B-1-1-0-2 (29) Justin Hunter: 0-0-2-1-3-1-2-B-2-7-1-6 (25) Chris Johnson: 0-1-2-2-5-4-4-B-4-7-1-5 (35) Delanie Walker: 4-2-8-4-6-5-5-B-2-8-10-9 (63) Nate Washington: 7-5-10-8-8-4-10-B-4-5-3-6 (70) Damian Williams: 2-0-2-7-2-5-3-B-1-0-0-I (22) Kendall Wright: 4-11-6-9-8-8-12-B-5-9-12-7 (91)

Wright (38, 61) finally had his first 100-yard game of the season, and he now has over 69 yards in each of his last seven games while averaging over six catches. He has two great matchups in the next two weeks so he should continue feasting. The rookie Hunter is probably the second most talented receiver on the team, but remains about fourth in the pecking order. He caught all six of his targets for 109 yards and a touchdown last week, but still played fewer than 50 percent of snaps. Unfortunately for him and fantasy owners the Tennessee passing game is just a tad too limited for him to have much fantasy value the rest of the season.
